Festive fall cousins

Sienna has many many cousins in our family. She is starting to say each of their names and it so fun to see her remember who they are. She is starting to talk so well now. She is even starting to sing her ABC's and count up to 10. It's so crazy how fast kids learn things!
So this past month we wanted to do some fun fall activities and get out of the house! There is only so much Sesame street and Wiggles I can take! I'm glad it stayed warm so we could enjoy the outdoors just a little longer. We went to the Scarecrow festival at Thanksgiving point and my parents had their annual Halloween party. Fall is a great time of year for festive fun!

Just keep running...

Last week I did the Las Vegas Ragnar race. In case you don't know about the Ragnar races, it is a relay race you do with 11 other teammates. There are 2 vans of 6 people and we ran a total of 180 miles. It started in the Valley of Fire through Lake Mead and then ends in Las Vegas. I had one of the easier legs, but it was not easy! I ran 3 miles (mostly uphill), 2.9 miles, and then 5 miles. I thought I wouldn't make that last 5 miles on 2 hours of sleep, but somehow my legs pulled through! It was so much fun to run with a group of girls from work. You really learn a lot of things about people when you are in a car with them for over 24 hours! We came in 1st place for the corporate division and received batons that said "numero uno"! If any of you out there are runners or are looking for a challenge, the ragnar race is it! I'm so glad I did it and got a little emotional at the end when I could see the finish line! I'm hooked on running and hopefully will do the Wasatch Back relay next June!

Decorating the car before the race

My team was mostly nurses from my work- notice the Becky + baby. Our little pregnant Becky did such an amazing job!

My van at the starting line- Laura, Nicole, Katie, Bobbi, Becky, me

At the starting line with preggo Becky! We had no idea what we were in for at that point!

Another team called "the running impaired" There are some crazy runners out there. They were so creative with the team names!

Laura helping out Nicole on her 1st leg. Water please!

My happily handing Becky our slap bracelet after my 1st leg! It was so dang hot, and I was not excited to see a huge hill on my last mile!

After our 1st leg was over, we were able to rest at the Lake Mead marina area while our van #2 was running. Here we are being gangsta's and showing what number leg we ran. I was #4!

Nicole and Katie-gearing up for our night run. I ran at 11pm and thought a coyote was chasing me for a few seconds! It was a little scary to run in the dark, in the desert, and have no idea where you are going! But I had an awesome view of the moon!

After my 3rd leg- happy as a clam that I did it! I felt like wonder woman!

At the finish line with the entire team! We were able to use the spa at our hotel before the 2nd van came in. The shower was to die for! But as we were walking out to meet our team at the finish line, some lady said to us, "Oh you will feel sooo much better after you shower!" We were like do we look that bad after our showers? Thanks a lot lady!

Receiving our 1st place batons at the pool in our swimming suits! It was an awesome experience and am so glad I got to do it with 11 other awesome women! Can't wait for next year!

Outside please!

Sienna is such an outdoors kind of girl! She loves to play outside on her slides, pushing her car, or feeding the horses. Now that the weather is a little more chilly, we are having a hard time keeping her cooped up in the house. We did catch a few days that were still warm and took advantage of it.
There is a river walkway in Riverdale. In the 31 years I have lived in South Weber, I have never even been there or even heard much of it. Sad because it is only 10 minutes from our house. It was pretty nice. It's paved and they even have a Ultimate Frisbee course through out it. I was surprised that people were playing Frisbee. Kindove funny to watch. There were a lot of bikers and runners on the course also. Sienna had a great time with all the bugs and flowers.
We also went to Beus' pond in Ogden and fed the crazy ducks. They must have been starving because I have never been so close to a duck or swan before. It made me a little nervous of how close they would come up to you. Sienna also loved the little park next to the pond. She thinks she is just as big as the 5 year olds and is now daring to go down the big slides all by herself. Hope there are a few more warm fall days ahead of us before the snow hits!!!

It can't be...the last day!!!

I'm soooo sad today is the official last day of summer! I love the heat and all the fun things to do during summer!! I'm not ready for the cold snow!!! AND with everyone's Halloween decorations already up, I guess I do need to move on from summer and into fall. We definitely got out and did many activities and tried to relax as much as possible the last three months. I'm hoping next year will be easier to camp with a two year old! HA HA!!! I can say I am looking forward to cute Halloween pictures, but for now here are the last of this summers pictures. Hope everyone had a great summer!!!

Sienna finally got used to the life jacket and enjoyed boating

Happy 60th mom & dad!

Both my mom and dad turn 60 this year. Their birthdays are two days apart. My mom's is the 1st and my dad's is the 3rd of September. Both my parents have aged so well! I don't remember my grandparents looking so young. We had a surprise party for them yesterday at my sister's house. We told them it was family night and to come over at 6. Well of course my dad had a tee time at the golf course at 4 so they were 30 minutes late and everyone was there. We saw their car pull up but then they turned around once they saw all the cars and realized what we were up to. They did come back and finally showed up to their party. It was fun to catch up with all the aunts and uncles and see all the gag "over the hill" gifts they got. Happy Birthday mom and dad!!!

Park City marathon

Sam was in the Park City marathon on Saturday. It was his first marathon and he finished the whole 26.2 miles despite a leg injury. He was determined to finish although he had to walk the last 5 miles because of his knee. I'm so proud of my hubby! We met him at mile marker 20 and had a sign to cheer him on. He said it really helped him want to finish after he saw us because he was ready to give up because of the pain. I can't believe how determined he was! Sam's mom, sister, Sienna, her cousin Griffin, and I were all waiting for him at the finish line and were so excited to see him! I'm so glad he accomplished this personal goal and know the next one will be better for him. Congrats babe! We love you!!!
One proud family
